[tenant US CA] what do I do in this situation?

a couple days ago I was having a small get together for a neighbors birthday during this little party I was drinking and was probably two or three shots in and we were barbecuing so I decided to give a neighbor who lives in a different apartment complex a plate of food The only thing in between us was a metal fence while walking along the fence to hand the plate of food. I fell into a deep hole that was left open by the workers who were fixing the fence. The fence was completed almost a month ago, but there was a hole still there that I was never aware of , nor Was taped off with any type of caution, tape, or a simple verbal notification that there was still holes by the apartment complex. Due to this fall, I was diagnosed with a metatarsal Stress fracture of the left foot. Now my question is since I was drinking will the apartment complex say it was my fault for not paying attention or would it be their fault for not filling in this hole? If I sue what are the chances of me winning? Mind you this was at night so I never seen the hole
