Morgridge hall white ball on wall?

I sat in on a lecture in morning hall for fun, and i noticed that a bunch of the lecture rooms have these white balls on the front wall. Is it an air freshener? At first I thought it was a camera but it only looks at one direction most of the time. Anyone know what it is?
