Borrowed gear

So I get the borrowed gear concept. I thought it was interesting that when I dropped gear for a homie during the server slam I got it back after we exfilled.

However last night when I was playing, we almost got wiped, me and a random third go down, the random third immediately disconnects, I get looted, my teammate pushes them back, rezzes me, other team rezzes, we push them back again, my teammate goes down, I clutch it and get the rez on him again.

Plenty of loot changed sides during the exchange. But I found that several pieces were marked borrowed? I dropped all the borrowed gear, my teammate picked it up, but it was still marked borrowed for him too.

That doesn’t really make sense to me. Technically I could see his gear being considered borrowed for me and my gear being considered borrowed for him, but why should it be borrowed for the both of us if our third disconnected. Similarly, I think once loot changes teams or if it’s picked off a dead body it shouldn’t be considered borrowed. Thoughts?

Also the match was amazing the firefight was so intense it’s so clutch being able to rez teammates as long as one is still alive.
