Stolen Fujifilm X100VI in Osaka, last resort trying to recover SD card with our Japan trip photos

Help

Hey everyone, this is my last resort as I’m out of options that I can think of.

My wife and I were on the trip of a lifetime. We spent about a month traveling around Japan in February 2026, and unfortunately my Fujifilm X100VI was stolen during the last few days of the trip.

It happened at the GiGO arcade in Osaka on Dotonbori.

My wife and I sat down to play a game, and if you’ve ever been in an arcade in Japan you know how overstimulating they can be. Flashing lights, loud sounds, lots of people everywhere. I set my camera down next to one of the machines while we started playing another game. When I realized the camera wasn’t with me anymore and went back to get it, it was already gone.

At first I assumed someone had simply turned it in. Japan is incredibly safe and people are usually very honest. I checked with the arcade management multiple times, but nothing was ever turned in.

We then filed a police report and asked if they could review the security cameras. Unfortunately GiGO said they can only review camera footage if the police request it. When we spoke with the police, they told us that because the camera was not physically taken from my body, it is considered lost property rather than theft, so they were unable to pursue it further.

Because of where it happened, right on Dotonbori, one of the busiest tourist areas in Osaka, I unfortunately believe someone likely took it rather than turning it in.

This happened on February 22, just about four days before we returned home.

The hardest part is that the SD card inside the camera has around 5,000 photos from our entire month in Japan. Some of the best photos I’ve ever taken are on that card.

Honestly, whoever has the camera can keep it. I really don’t care about the camera itself. I would just love to somehow get the SD card back with our memories from the trip.

For reference, the camera details are:

Camera: Fujifilm X100VI

Color: Silver

Serial Number: 4AA15895

Accessories attached:

•	Brown leather case

•	SmallRig thumb grip

•	Red SmallRig shutter button

•	1/8 Black Pro Mist filter

If anyone happens to see a listing online or recognize it somewhere, especially around Osaka resale sites, I would be incredibly grateful if you reached out.

Even if someone ended up with it and sees this post, I would happily cover shipping costs or any reward just to get the SD card back.

I know it’s a long shot, but I figured it was worth asking. If anyone has suggestions on other places I should check or anything else I could try, I’d really appreciate the advice.

Thank you.
