Chapter 1
I looked at the glass of whiskey in front of me, then at the trembling figure of Sienna Harper huddled in the corner of
the couch.
I had three months left before my entire family would be wiped out.
Three months and three days before I’d be dumped into the East River inside a cement–filled oil drum.
The voices in my head, those so–called ‘plotlines,” told me I was the vicious supporting character in The Lost Heir of the
Mafia.
The one huddling in the corner, looking all pitiful, was the true protagonist–Sienna Harper, the illegitimate daughter.
According to the plot, half an hour from now, I would force this drink down her throat out of jealousy, as she had
captured the eye of the Montgomery heir, Ethan Montgomery.
Then, I’d send her off to a villa on Long Island, where the ‘living devil,” Sebastian Carter, was waiting, drugged and
delirious.
And I, because of this, would infuriate Ethan, who deeply loved Sienna. He would conspire with the FBI to destroy my
family and eventually stuff me into a gasoline drum, filling it with cement, before sinking it in the river.
I smirked.
I raised the glass of whiskey, tilted my head back, and drank it all in one go.
Damn.
Sienna’s eyes widened in terror, like she was looking at a madwoman.
‘Claire… Claire, what are you doing**?”** Her voice trembled with the usual fragility.
I wiped the alcohol from my lips, the heat in my body surging through me. The effect of the drug kicked in quickly, but
my mind had never been so clear.
“What am I doing? I glanced at her. “Saving your life, and mine.”
I didn’t have time to explain.
Because I knew that the so–called ‘devil‘ of the mafia, Sebastian Carter, was about to explode
If no one stepped in as the **‘**antidote,” his death was one thing But if he survived and it got out that the Keynolds family knew about it and did nothing, we would all die.
More importantly, I had to make my move
If Sienna could win Sebastian over tonight, why couldn’t I?
As long as I had Sebastian backing me. Ethan–the blind, useless bastard–would never dare to lay a finger on me again Chapter 1
‘Prepare the car! To Long Island!” I shouted at the door.
The butler turned pale in fear. ‘Miss, it’s so late…”
“Stop talking, go if you don’t want to die!”
The black Mercedes sped down the highway, rattling my bones as the heat surged through me. I bit my lip, tasting blood.
This was the craziest gamble I had ever made.
If I won, wealth, power, and safety would be mine.
If I lost… well, I’d be dead anyway, so why not take the risk?
At the villa entrance, the guards were strict.
But I knew Sebastian’s condition. His right–hand man was as nervous as a cat on a hot tin roof. His private doctor had
just been thrown out, his forehead bleeding–Sebastian was infamous for being merciless when poisoned.
I stumbled out of the car and, relying on my fading memory of the plot. I went straight to the leading bodyguard.
“I can get in, I’m his woman.”
The bodyguard froze.
Taking advantage of their confused glances, I pushed open the villa door.
Inside. Sebastian was like a trapped beast.
The living room was a mess–expensive furniture shattered all over the place. From the stairs, I could already feel the
suffocating aura of hostility and cold.
