Massively disappointed Matt is shilling for Crypto now, and the way the ad was integrated was unethical.
I'm not going to argue whether crypto is a scam or not, that argument is over and whether you agree or not is down to whether you believe you're the scammer or the scammed.
I know Hanlon's Razor states we should always assume stupidity over malice when it comes to something like this, but to offer a backhanded compliment/insult, I simply don't believe Matt is dumb enough to either believe Crypto is in any way viable or ethical, and the same goes for endorsing it.
So I believe he, knowingly, did something unethical, which is fittingly also how the ad itself is inserted into the video. The ad is integrated as though it's part of the content itself, as though it is relevant or related to the topic at hand, which it actually isn't.
This is compounded by the fact that he doesn't actually mention, at any point, that he is actually being sponsored by the company he's promoting. Go and look. At no point is there any indication that UsefulCharts has been paid to promote this service. He's literally pretending he just, out of the goodness of his heart, decided to take a few minutes out of his video to tell everyone about this great thing he's found.
Not to put it too strongly, but this would, 100% be illegal in many countries if this were being broadcast on TV, and I suspect it may even break several of Youtubes own regulations with regard to sponsored content.
In the end, I'm hugely disappointed by UC and Matt, and I don't feel I can continue to support the channel, or this sub, going forward. I'll be canceling my Patreon subscription, and finding other places to post.
