A random man on the street harassed me for what I was wearing

[To add context I’m 22F, my bf is 23M and the random dude was mid 30-40s and this took place in Portugal beside the sea]

I was walking on the street with my bf when he got a call from his mum so he picked up and I walked a little slower to give him some privacy and let him walk ahead.

Then suddenly a man approaches me, grabs onto my arm, points at me up and down and says “are you not ashamed of how you’re dressed??” Whilst getting in my face. I was wearing high waisted bootcut jeans with a bikini top under a seethrough mesh lace top and a cardigan over the top. I was kinda taken aback and I didn’t really understand what he said at first but my bf did.

He immediately turned around, grabbed onto the guys shirt and asked him to repeat what he just said. The dude immediately got defensive and asked my bf to let go. My bf refused and asked him if that’s how he talks to women let alone women he doesn’t know. The man again was defensive till my bf let go just staring at him. The man then proceeded to say “oh well why is she dressed so provocatively in public, she should be ashamed”. My bf continued to defend me saying I had the right to wear whatever I want and if he has a problem with it that’s his problem alone.

My bf then pulled me forward and continued walking and talking on the phone. The guy then continued to follow us saying “oh don’t even touch me like that again bro I’m not one of your little friends” but my bf ignored him.

Then not even 30 minutes later another guy passing by says to my bf “I’m gonna steal your gf” which honestly wasn’t that big of a deal but with what had just happened me and my bf were already pretty uncomfortable so that just ended up being the icing on the cake.

All in all I’m writing this because I just never had something like that happen to me. I wasn’t born in Portugal I was Born in London which is a pretty diverse and unique city. You could wear whatever and people wouldn’t care so having this experience just made me think about something that had never crossed my mind before.
