Avoid 214 Duluth and MTRPL Properties - Attempted Scam

Actualités | Current Events

Livid right now.

Found a nice studio at 214 Duluth asking for $995/month a couple week's back and went to go see the unit with a realtor. Everything checked out up until the moment I got the lease which said the unit was actually $1350/month with a $355 discount for the first year. At no point was this disclosed until after they got all of my credit information, IDs, passport photos, and previous landlord reference. They also wanted a pre-authorized debit arrangement for rent payment, where they only needed to give 10 days notice to change the amount charged to whatever they'd like. (According to the PAD form they provided) It's evident that they're trying to lure people in at low rents and hide the actual amount they want them to pay for the second year, and use PAD to force the transfer of any amount they make up. This company and organization's business practices are predatory and I'm concerned for anyone who might choose to sign with them in the future, as they clearly are preying on tenants who don't do their due diligence or check the fine print.
