Ten-year old ski boots from ski shop
It would be crazy to buy ten-year old ski boots from the ski shop, right?
Here's the background: mondo size 21.5, MV, 157cm (5'1.5") woman, 115lb with surprisingly large calves. Very recreational, on-piste, intermediate skier. I'm currently in a wide calf 22.5 70 flex boot with Superfeet insoles and I want more control.
The problem is, the only 21.5 boots that I can find locally right now are Lange RS 90 SC. My options are these 2016 (!!!) boots from a ski shop for $700, or a current season pair directly from Lange for $550. I'll be spending at least a hundred more on bootfitting either way, probably. This seems like a no-brainer, but given few options, I thought I'd look for expert/"expert" opinions.
(Another ski shop I went to suggested I fly to Japan, which is unfortunately not in the cards anytime in the near future.)
So I ask, is it crazy to consider ten year old boots? Do I just go for the current season? Do I wait and hope against hope that someone else makes a 21.5 next season?
