Planning to go to Costco? Beta test this for me?
I built a cost splitting app specific to Costco (using one price tag and receipt format was helpful) called divvyy. I know "divvy" is usually spelled with one "y" but that domain was taken haha. Mostly was trying to kill some time, but now that I'm done, I kind of want to make it really polished... generally kill more time I guess. To do that, I need user feedback.
I've exhausted my immediate Costco-going circle (and have made a lot of good changes as a result) but now need a bit more to discover edge cases, quirks, etc. It's been something I've been chipping away at here and there for a few months, so it'd be cool to see it improve at the hands of people not related to me (and so may be more candid with feedback)!
I'm not offering any compensation, but if you use it and like it, I'm happy to unlock free premium for you as a thank you.

The app works by scanning price tags at Costco as you buy them (if folks are budget sensitive and want a running total) or by scanning the receipt after the trip. You can assign whole items to people or a portion of shared items (like toilet paper or milk or something). Tax is split according to your share of items and even recognizes different tax rates for different types of items (like prepared food) on the receipt (one of the Costco-specific optimizations). If you want a tax estimate if you choose to scan as you go, the app has GPS-based tax rates. After everything is split, you send Venmo or Cashapp requests direct from the app.
I genuinely don't intend for this to become a true "side gig" generating real money (but it was fun building it like I was). That said I did put a premium subscription in there because platform, API, and compute costs are real and scale with user activity. I at least didn't want to lose money.
Thanks -- hope you like it!
