PvP is *part* of the game. Not the *point* of the game

I feel like the early complaints about limited PVP on the beginner perimeter map caused Bungie to have a knee jerk reaction so they pumped up the player count to the point that it's not even really enjoyable or feasible to complete contracts, or spend any time exploring.

Before, it felt like if I wanted to engage with PVP, I could easily find it. I could try to avoid it, but the fear was always there because you never know what could be around the corner. Tension would build the longer you went without hearing or seeing another player

But now the tension is gone because every map is just littered with players at every possible turn.

I enjoy PvP, but I can't count how many games in a row I've been just blasted climbing up a ladder by a player less than a minute into the game. Before even making it to a POI.

And if I do get to a POI, there's a near 100% chance that there are already at least two teams fighting. And if there aren't two, it's becausewe're the second team and the third party is just around the corner.

Bungie made an incredibly lore-dense interactive world for us to explore, but since the server slam it feels more like a battle royale than an extraction shooter.
