My brother got back with his ex after I was pretty harsh to her during the breakup.

I(22female) have a brother(24m) who dated his girlfriend (23f) for about four years. During that time she was pretty close with our family, including me and my other sister(19f).

They broke up about nine months ago and when it happened we obviously took our brother’s side. He was pretty upset about the breakup, so we were protective of him and honestly pretty cold toward his ex afterward. I want to clarify there was no cheating involved. There were also some logistics involved (they shared a storage unit and he was abroad), so I ended up helping coordinate getting his stuff out since he didn’t want to talk to her directly. During that time things were tense and I’ll admit i said some things that probably weren’t very nice. I hated seeing my brother hurt and how he talked about her, I assumed it was over for good.

Now here’s the situation: my brother out of nowhere without telling our family went to europe with guess who? her. I only found out from instagram after he posted them together. I may be mistaken but I feel like there was even an engagement ring on her finger.

So now I feel really awkward because we were pretty harsh toward her during the breakup, thinking it was final. If you were in my position, how would you handle this? Should I reach out and apologize, just act normal and move on, or wait to see how things play out? My family and I also feel a little left in the dark because he didn’t even tell us before making it official and posting her.
