Christine Sixty
Just a little something that I’ve been working on for the last five years.
“Christine Sixty”
(A sequel inspired by the story of a girl who used to be sixteen)
Verse 1
I saw her walkin’ down the avenue today
Silver in her hair where the sunlight used to play
Lines around the eyes where the laughter used to stay
Time kept rollin’, it never looked away
She used to turn every head in the room
High heels clickin’ like a teenage boom
Now she moves a little slower down the street
But there’s still a rhythm in her heartbeat
Pre-Chorus
The mirror tells the truth she can’t deny
But there’s still fire burnin’ in her eyes
Chorus
Christine sixty, where did the years all go?
From summer nights to winter snow
Christine sixty, life wrote every line
But the rebel heart still beats in time
Verse 2
Old photographs in a cardboard frame
Lipstick smiles and a different name
Records spinning in a smoky room
Every night felt like it ended too soon
Boys with guitars and a wild parade
Promises that time would slowly fade
Some got lost and some moved on
But the song inside her never really gone
Pre-Chorus
She laughs about the days gone by
Still got that spark she can’t disguise
Chorus
Christine sixty, where did the years all go?
From neon lights to a softer glow
Christine sixty, the world may change the scene
But somewhere lives that restless teen
Bridge
Yeah the clock kept tickin’, seasons turned
Lessons lived and lessons learned
But a heart like hers don’t fade away
It just finds a different song to play
Final Chorus
Christine sixty, standin’ tall tonight
Silver hair in the city lights
Christine sixty, time can take its fee
But it can’t steal who you used to be
Christine sixty… still a little sixteen in her dreams.
