Don't know what to do

My baby is around 16 months old and lately he has been very cranky. He is not eating well. He goes to daycare and does very well there, and goes very happily. Infact he goes by himself inside the daycare, but when he comes home he just wants to stick with me all the time. He always wants me to hold him. He doesn’t let me do anything around the house. He constantly clings to me and keeps whining and crying a little. I can’t understand if he is in pain or if something else is bothering him because he doesn’t show any clear signs. The moment I pick him up, he becomes happy and calm again. But the problem is that I can’t cook, clean, or get anything done because he always wants to be in my arms. Has anyone experienced something similar? How did you handle it? What should I practice or do to manage this situation?
