How I used PMI Study Hall practice exams to prepare for PMP?
I recently passed the PMP exam and wanted to share my approach with Study Hall, in case it helps others.
Here’s what I did:
- Completed 2 full-length essential exams and went through all 717 domain-based practice questions to identify weak areas.
- Jotted down question numbers and domains where I made mistakes, then reviewed explanations carefully to understand why I chose wrong answers.
- Focused on understanding the PMI mindset, not memorization, why the other options were wrong and which choices aligned with best project management practices.
- Over time, my scores improved from around 70% to 83%, giving me confidence for the real exam.
- For expert-level questions, I read the explanations to learn, but the day before the exam, I skipped them to avoid stressing my mindset. These questions are extreme level and can sometimes confuse more than help.
- Treated practice exams as learning tools, not tests, which reduced stress and improved comprehension.
For anyone using Study Hall: track mistakes by domain and review thoughtfully, but don’t let extreme questions shake your confidence right before the exam.
