Fellow enthusiasts, I’m reaching out for your help. I’m downsizing my watch collection and would appreciate your opinions on whether I should sell any or all of the four watches I’m considering letting go of.

I’ve attached pictures of the watches, along with explanations for why they’re on the chopping block and what has replaced them. While nothing is mandatory, I’m planning a significant purchase and would like to ensure that my decision aligns with my priorities. I’m particularly interested in hearing your thoughts on whether any of these watches might be regrets if I decide to sell them.

Regarding my collection, I’ve been focusing more on limited editions that are part of a broader collection but have some unique characteristics. I’m looking for classic watches with a modern twist (think 2003 snoopy speedmaster)

1. Grand Seiko Mistflake SBGE285: I love this watch and wear it frequently. However, it doesn’t fit the theme of my collection. Additionally, I’m planning a trip to Japan later this year and would prefer to purchase another Grand Seiko while there. It has also been replaced in my daily wear rotation. Considering its cost, it would likely take a significant hit on the secondary market.

2. IWC Steel Miramar: I appreciate the design of this watch, but it’s not currently in my rotation. I’m not emotionally attached to it and can easily recoup my investment.

3. Tudor Black Bay Ceramic: I like this watch, but I already own the Hamilton Death Stranding 2, which is also all black and better fits the theme. However, this is a fantastic watch and my only Tudor. It would likely take a 35% hit on the secondary market.

4. Christopher Ward Bel Canto Lumiere: This watch doesn’t fit the theme, but it’s a good watch and a great conversation starter. I don’t particularly like its lightweight feel, and I recently purchased a GP with the same dial color. It doesn’t get enough wear for the cost investment.

I’m eager to hear your thoughts and see if you have any suggestions for how I should proceed with this decision.
