LIS surgery and recovery

I've had a fissure for 3 years exactly this month. I finally caved and got surgery today. The Dr told me it had tore 2 out 3 layers and was really really bad but was very positive that this would allow me to finally start healing. I found this group about a year ago maybe less and I know how comforting it is knowing im not alone and that so many others deal with the same excruciating pain. So I'll use this post to update my recovery.

I had a lateral internal sphincterotomy done today 3/6/26. They did a nerve block but the pain im having now is deep so its not helping much but its maybe a 1 or 2 on a scale. I've been taking half a cap of miralax daily for a few months now and will continue tha along with a gentle stimulant softener as well. Hoping I can stay away from the heavy pain meds they gave me.
