New driver, second time driving, got lost and ended up in Sharjah

I am a new driver and recently got my license in December end. Bought a second hand car a week ago. Now the problem is that no one trained me to drive alone. This car doesn’t have a GPS screen I have to use my phone. I have ordered the phone stand thingy and it’s not delivered yet.

So today I had to drive from motor city to Deira for an interview. It was a complete nightmare as I am only driving by myself only second time and the phone kept falling. On top of that the GPS just stopped working when I was about 10 mins away and I kept going on and somehow ended up in Sharjah 😭

Then somehow following the road signs I reached Deira and driving back was again a complete nightmare. The GPS signal kept getting lost and I drove through Sheikh Zayed road, crossed businesses bay, JVC, and some other places I didn’t even know about. This is just a rant because it was such a stressful drive and took me 2 hours each side. 😭

Any tips/advice for new drivers?
