I need help!

This might not be the right place, but here goes.

I'm 18 years old and I'm a Protestant. I attend a small church (it must have between 40 and 50 members). I'm in a phase where my faith is being tested, and for that reason, I'm trying to study more, because the Bible says that blessed is The man who builds his house on the rock. So, here begins my rant. I've been researching a lot of things, mainly about the life of Jesus, and eventually, I discovered the Catholicism. (I'm not attacking the Catholicism or anyone who is Catholic, I just need help.) As I was saying, I discovered the Catholicism and since then I've been trying to study it, but I don't really know how to start. I confess it all started as curiosity. I always found Catholic churches very beautiful, but as a Protestant, I had that instilled view that Catholics are idolaters and so on (it's not hate, I'm just reporting what we Protestants are taught). Recently, while searching for Catholic content online, I came across the other side of the coin, the one they don't tell you in Protestant churches: Catholics are not idolaters, they simply ask a saint to intercede for those who ask. My parents are also Protestant; my mother was Catholic as a child but distanced herself from the Catholicism at 17 and became Protestant at 21. Therefore, I was born into a Protestant family and never had any contact with Catholicism. The church I currently attend doesn't teach hatred against the Catholicism (unlike other churches I've attended), but I don't know how to react to this sudden interest in Catholicism. I'm afraid of my parents' reaction; I think their treatment of me would change if I became Catholic. They also wouldn't let me go to a Catholic church if that were the case... I don't want to be close-minded, and that's why I'm here asking for help. What should I do?
