19 Female, 165cm, 65kg, don’t smoke, no known medical conditions.

On Monday the 2nd of March I attended an appointment with my GP presenting with symptoms such as shortness of breath, chesty cough, a slight temperature but nothing major.

I was told I had a chest infection, prescribed antibiotics for 7 days (clarithromycin 500mg).

On Thursday, 5th of March, I woke up feeling significantly worse. I had intense dizziness, chest pain (almost like someone was sitting on my chest), temperature had skyrocketed all of a sudden, blood in phlegm and I was basically unable to stay awake the whole day. This eventually brought me to the emergency room.

In the emergency room I had an x-ray, ecg, bloods, covid and flu test done. All of these were clear and I was told I had a viral infection and that the antibiotics were unnecessary (which I already knew as I wasn’t getting better). I was sent home after getting some IV fluids. I was also told to keep taking the antibiotics.

I was prescribed solpadeine (paracetamol and codeine mix) and ibuprofen. These eased symptoms such as the fever, however, all day today, the dizziness has not cleared, chest pain has gotten worse (paracetamol slightly helps) and shortness of breath has gotten worse.

I understand that this is a viral infection and little can be done, but I quite literally can’t breath. No I don’t have a blocked nose 😕

Any advice would be appreciated.
