I did something stupid a few nights ago… Taught me to never be in a rush.

A few days ago I got off the bus stop and headed towards my residence.. I had to cross the road but the crosswalk was a few hundred meters away, so I decided to just cross the road without going over the crosswalk. It was at night and I saw a car approaching, it had just took a turn so I thought that if I ran I’d reach the other side in time as it was a smaller road. But I should have also assumed that the car was speeding and waited a few seconds to let it pass. I have crossed that area many times and many cars took that turn and reached the position I was at way after I went across… I’m not making excuses for myself but just explaining my thought process. Sadly this time the car was faster than the speed cars usually drive in this specific area and had to break strongly to avoid hitting me. Of course, understandably, the guy in the car cussed me out plenty, embarrassed I just kept walking and ignoring it. It was a very embarrassing moment for me and I should have known better and took precautions when crossing a road. My actions could have caused issues for myself and the other people involved, especially the person driving. I just wanted to get this out there so that I can move on and I hope that the guy driving doesn’t remember this encounter because it’s so embarrassing.
