Could these US Renal results mean I have a cancerous tumor on my Kidney?

Hoping to get some advice from a doc on this. I had a partial left nephrectomy performed back in 2021 to remove a small cancerous tumor from my left kidney. I’ve been seeing my Urologist once year for a follow up where he has me get a renal ultrasound and chest x-rays. I received an email today with the results from the ultrasound I had today (3/6/2026) and one thing stood out to me and it has me a bit worried… on the test results for my left kidney, was this note:
“Left kidney: 10.2 cm. No hydronephrosis. There is a questionable new left lower pole exophytic hypoechoic structure measuring 1.7 cm. Further evaluation with a renal protocol MRI or CT is recommended in this patient who is status post partial left nephrectomy. There is a left lower pole 0.5 cm echogenic focus, possibly representing a non-shadowing calculus versus artifact.”
For comparison, these were the findings from my renal ultrasound in 2025:
“LEFT KIDNEY: 9.2 cm. Status post partial nephrectomy. No hydronephrosis. Lower pole calculus measuring 0.8 x 0.9 cm.”
Could this mean I have a new cancerous tumor? Or could it be nothing at all?
Any info would be greatly appreciated.
