Vault 03 Lore

Discussion

Hey, I've written a draft for the lore of Vault 03, I'd love your feedback!

Vault 03 was held up by 2 hydraulic legs based on the ocean floor rising all the way up to the surface where the vault was located.

Roughly half way into a year long preliminary test, one of the hydraulic legs seized, putting immense stress on the frame of the facility, which practically crushed the Vault Door, locking it in place indefinitely.

In an attempt to negate any risk of losing funding for the Vault Project, Vault 03 Administration decided to stay quiet and not mention the hydraulic failiure to Tribute and attempt repairs themselves. They also kept it from the Residential group.

The Residential group felt the tilt of the facility, and when they approached Administration, they were told nothing was wrong, but we're prohibited from contacting Tribute directly, which went against their contracts.

In an attempt to gain control and end the test early, the Residential group seized control of the Industrial wing, including the Nuclear Reactor.

They gave Administration an ultimatum, contact Tribute or they will cut power to the Administrative wing.

Instead of negotiating, Administration gathered the guards and launched an attack on the Residential group occupying the Reactor Room.

During the attack, automated control systems were damaged, leading to a catastrophic pressure vessel failiure and a resulting explosion.

Due to the stress in the facility from the hydraulic legs failiure, the explosion caused extreme damage across the stress channels across the facility, splitting it into 2 large pieces.

The half of the facility on the failed hydraulic leg collapsed into the ocean without the support from the other, settling on the ocean floor. The reactor still remained active and red-hot on the ocean floor, releasing radiation.

The half on the surviving leg was left only partially submerged, but still hugely damaged, and left without any resources.

Everyone who wasn't killed from the initial explosion (and was on the only partially submerged side), would later die from a lack of resources, radiation exposure, and other related illnesses.

It was common practice for Vault 03 Administration to go into radio silence for authenticity, so it was 3 months before Tribute checked on the area following total communications loss.

Vault 03 was deemed a total loss, but funding originally intended for Vault 03 was given to Vault 02, which hit construction delays because of unsuitable construction weather. The flaws from Vault 03, including the hydraulic leg failiure and structural integrity problems were addressed, along with adding a secondary door for emergencies.

Vault 03 (and 02) is an upcoming environment mod that makes use of JakeIsLoud's Optimized Building Componets, which will let me make the entire build much larger and more detailed without as much of a performance hit and a much smaller file size.
