Amendment proposal pocket veto

First time writing amendment

Pocket veto amendment

“Purpose and intent”

Currently in the constitution the president may simply ignore a bill and have it sit in limbo indefinitely. this amendment seeks to change that and also add the function of a “pocket veto”

The following passage will be added to article 3 section 2 of the DOR constitution

Every bill passed by the upper legislative body shall be presented to the president . The president within 7 days of receiving the bill should either sign it or veto the bill and return it to congress with a message explaining why . If by president refuses to sign or veto the bill within 7 days the bill automatically becomes law however if the current term of the upper legislative body has ended before the 7 days, and the president has neither signed or vetoed it the bill will be considered “dead” and must be resubmitted and voted on by the new congress.
