Fun Fun Fun (1964 alternate album)

I’m of the mindset that Shut Down Volume 2 is an excellent album marred by a terrible and confusing title as well as poor sequencing of some obvious filler tracks. I was wondering how different you would think its legacy would be if:

- the album title were “Fun Fun Fun”

- “Cassius” and “Denny’s Drums” were both dropped

- “I Do” was added as a final track.

So the final result:

Fun Fun Fun (1964)

1. Fun Fun Fun

2. Don’t Worry Baby

3. In the Parking Lot

4. The Warmth of the Sun

5. This Car of Mine

6. Why Do Fools Fall in Love

7. Pom Pom Play Girl

8. Keep an Eye on Summer

9. Shut Down, Pt. II

10. Louie, Louie

11. I Do

Would this change your opinion of it? Would it raise or lower the album in your rankings? I know there was a re-release that renamed and dropped two songs, but inexplicably one was In the Parking Lot!

My feeling has always been that there are 3 stone cold classics (Don’t Worry Baby, Fun Fun Fun, and Warmth of the Sun) that make it an always worthwhile album, but I also feel like In the Parking Lot is underrated, Pom Pom Playgirl is a great production, Why Do Fools Fall in Love is one of their best covers, Keep an Eye on Summer is a solid ballad, and I don’t even mind Shut Down Pt. II as one of their early instrumentals.
