Hi folks! I have a poop eater on my hands. Meet Dot (first picture). Specifically, she eats poop when she’s outside and my husband and I are at work. She eats her own poop and the poop of her 2 big brothers (another ACD and a GSP), which is probably 5-9 turds a day because we both work 10 hour days.

We’ve tried changing food, adding stuff to their food like no-poo-chews, curly parsley, a ring of pineapple, meat tenderizer to their food, etc. it’s just extra seasoning to her.

The vet says she is perfectly healthy, just eating poop out of boredom.

The only way to prevent her from eating poop is to muzzle her. She has broken/figured out how to get through the first muzzle pictured (picture 2) and ate through the mesh on the second muzzle pictured (picture 3). She needs a muzzle that comes down the center of her face (between her eyes) in addition to straps behind the ears so she won’t pull it off. So far, every muzzle I’ve found like this with a metal basket is for specific breeds and none of them fit her. For example, they are for specifically a pitbull, rottie, German shep, etc. the last picture (pic 4) is the last one we tried, which stuck out way too far on her face.

Does anyone have a good recommendation? Also preferred if it has a metal basket, since she has broken the plastic/silicone ones and eaten through mesh.

This girl is built DIFFERENT. She is the smallest ACD I’ve ever had, and the first female. She is deaf, tough as nails, and the most determined little thing I’ve ever seen. A complete bulldozer built from titanium and rusty nails.

She is not my first ACD. She has jobs, gets plenty of exercise and mental stimulation, and 2 acres to harass. Just adding that bc I know a lot of people have issues with ACDs bc they don’t know what these dogs NEED.

Thanks in advance!
