Ex husband in the army convinced me to let him cosign a loan for with my bank, stopped making his payments, lied about claiming my taxes then forged my signatures to pull out cash loans when I left him. Happened years ago & credit still dropping. What can I do?

I contacted the cash loan places I found out he used my info to take money from and they said they delete all records every 12 months so I can’t get statements or any documentation.

I was told to file a police report where this happened but when I called they said there’s nothing they can do because we were legally married.

I’ve tried calling attorneys and everyone I’ve called said they help the person on the opposite end of what I’m looking for.

The apartment we lived at reported me to the credit bureaus for $6k originally after he said he was going to take me off. I left way before him, when I found out last year they reported me I called them. They said they had to do a welfare check because he didn’t pay several months of rent and noticed his car in the same spot for a while. They found damages to the apt, had to pay to tow his car he left behind and that since we were both on the lease that falls on me too.

This guy got out of the army with 100% VA disability, receiving $3,300 a month while working two cash jobs bringing in around $8k yet he was always late on bills or claimed he couldn’t pay and then stole from me, used my ss card and other info to take out money under my name so it’s traced back to me meaning I can’t prove I wasn’t the one who did it. The only proof I have is the signatures he forged on his tax return to claim me, he signed my name and didn’t even spell my name right. My tax specialist was the one who pulled up the info and she even said his signature doesn’t look like mine. I left him because of the VA disability thing and because he lied to his commander about me having a miscarriage which is why he missed work, to my knowledge he was at work everyday. I was never pregnant!

With my current job they have a service number I can call to possibly get a Family Law Attorney, but even then what else can I do? My credit used to be at 600 before I got with him, after all this it dropped to 280. I brought it back up to 560, found out I paid off $8k out of the $11k debt to scammers, and my credit is back down to 400. I feel defeated and I don’t have family I can ask advice. I’ve been trying to adult on my own since I was 14. Currently itp of taking care of my student loan (the only loan I have) and thankfully that’s the only one I have good news for. Everything else is strangling me. I can’t rent an apartment, can’t get a car under my name, was unemployment 8 months last year. I need advice. Please.
