Just me who finds the game unenjoyable because of it's difficulty? (Act 2 "spoilers")

I'm stuck in act 1 and I have never played similar games before and tried to check it out (also add that I Play like once or twice per week).

I've recently seen my brother fight that one final Boss of act 2, Y'know The moon guy? Yeah, his cats died from exhaustion because there is no explanation on how to counter him (imo the tutorial should explain some more stuff, like weather events, ability combos, stuff like that. I Had to watch over 10 guides just to be trash.)

I feel like beating this game Takes insane research and spoilers, which is something my brother refuses to do.

Also, off topic, but why is the penalty for defeat do harsh? I often have to throw like 50% of cats away to save them from eating each other after I lose.
