I read them so you didn’t have to
Just finished Narco #1 and it exceeded my (tbh, modest) expectations. I don’t love the art, but this is story driven and you (likely) will be more focused on the action/events/characters than doing a deep dive into the art. For the spec people this would work very well as either a movie or short streaming series.
D’Orc #2 is just as fun and as the first issue. Subject matter is not for everyone, if Skottie Young did a run on a time displaced Chew you might get this. For the spec people, this would be a brilliant adult animated series.
Comics! The Magazine #1 was a decent launch. I miss the fanzines of the 90s and I loved Amazing Heroes in the 80s. The letter section is worth the cover price alone. The Chew ‘ad’ was a laugh, was as another page of strips. The interviews were good. Could have used a bit more meat on the bone though, felt a bit light. The price guide being for CGC 9.8s didn’t do much for me, I’d have preferred raw pricing but I get that’s not the easiest to put together.
Up next I’m catching up on ‘Ordained’, ‘Lost Fantasy’ and ‘Whatever Happened to the Crimson Justice’.
