Pursuit of Jade: Ep 6 - Ep 9 Recap - There Was Only One Bed

Ep 6: Yan Zheng watches Fan Changyu kill a pig, which she worries will scare or disgust him (she really does see him as a princess), but he's not at all. He seems to find both her knives and her style of martial arts interesting/familiar. He helps her salt meat, but annoys her by wasting salt.
(Him accepting her pig butchering was like a mirror of the funeral where she accepted what he'd done, even if she doesn't know it's him) Fan Changyu caught Yan Zheng's secret messenger bird and he had to talk her down from eating it

The thugs, lead by Jin Yuanbao, come to collect protection money from Fan Changyu's shop but she's not having it and they are terrified of her anyway. They help at the shop instead and she pays them wages. Then she goes to threaten the shopkeeper who sent them to ruin her stove.
Yan Zheng buys a bunch of provisions for the family and pretends that Fan Changyu's father did it before he died. Fan Changyu goes to defend herself in court, but her uncle doesn't show up as the plaintiff. It turns out he's dead and she is accused of his murder.
Ep 7: The magistrate sends people to Fan Changyu's home and sends her to prison. They find dead bodies and no husband or sister. Constable Wang lets Fan Changyu out so she can find them. We get a super cool snow battle which includes hand-over-hand couples fighting:
Yan Zheng passes out from his brand new injuries on top of his old injuries and has a nightmare about his mother's death by suicide. But don't worry! Fan Changyu is there to sleep near him and give us cute soft moments.
They return to the magistrate and now he's accusing Yan Zheng of being the murderer and Fan Changyu of escaping from prison. Yan Zheng is Not Impressed and starts fighting the court guards and threatening the magistrate. Fortunately (for the magistrate), Yan Zheng's friend shows up with a fancy fake identity and the magistrate lets him off. Yan Zheng collapses and tells them to save Fan Changyu.
We would have liked to see him doing the smashing
Ep 8: Uncle Zhao tells Yan Zheng's friend what has happened, to his shock. He imagines Fan Changyu as a terrifying person.
Yan Zheng tells his friend that he thinks his uncle tried to kill him but it seems like they are after the Fan family too. He also denies being in love because he cannot fall in love (lol, famous last words). Fan Changyu thinks that Yan Zheng left and starts to cry, but it was the friend who went and left some money. Fan Changyu visits her grandfather who is about to tell her something about her father, but is interrupted. Then she is asked to meet the manager of fancy restaurant
Yu Qianqian offers to make a deal to buy Fan Changyu's meat, but as she's planning to leave town so she turns it down at first, then agrees to supply meat until New Years. The unethical butcher Guo shows up and makes a scene, Manager Yu has him beaten up. Li Huaian (who gave Fan Changyu a ride earlier) recognizes Fan Changyu as the person he's looking for. Fan Changyu goes home and Aunt Zhao encourages her to seal the deal with her fake husband.

Ep 9: There was Only One Bed.
They have a conversation while Fan Changyu is lying on top of Yan Zheng because the Zhaos are peeping. Unfortunately, they only have a brief kiss before being interrupted by armed assassins. They both fight, Fan Changyu runs away and bumps into Li Huaian. Then men were sent by Yan Zheng's uncle to find a letter at the Fan house, which Yan Zheng discovers via interrogation.
The magistrate arrives and tries to arrest Fan Changyu for making a memorial tablet for the Marquis of Wu'an. He is clearly not used to people being around who both can read and know the legal code. We learn that the Li and Wei families are opposed in court (Wei Yan being the male lead's maternal uncle). Li Huaian is trying to investigate but no one will talk to him except the Mean Gossipy Grandma (I refuse to learn her name).
New Character:
He's the person who is now in charge of Xie Zheng's soldiers. He's trying to recruit He Jingyuan, a former general to help him carry out what is probably a stupid plan because the general looks very unimpressed (Yan Zheng also called him stupid earlier). He Jingyuan has what the assassins are probably looking for and he has it delivered. Fan Changyu's father left it to him and asked him to protect his daughters.
