rant about being "sensitive" and having interests in male dominated fields ( ̄ヘ ̄;)
okay so I have audhd and while I'm mostly verbal and things like that I have a very big problem with confrontation, people correcting me, and people coming across as mean even though they probably aren't, sorry I don't really know how to describe it!!
I get anxious and panic if I've done something wrong or said something wrong. Especially as someone with a special interest in paleontology, I don't have a lot of access to large and knowledgeable paleontology books and I only have a few so I don't know everything about paleontology just a lot of the basic stuff, and people seem to put me down for that- but at the same time, I can't tell if I'm just being sensitive to how people word things?? I met someone irl a while ago and he was neurotypical but he also liked dinosaurs, I got excited and started talking about my favourites and he immediately went to tell me how basic my favourites were and also mansplained something I must of got wrong 🥹
Ofc I don't mind being corrected or told that something I said was incorrect or rude, that makes total sense and I never want to come across as a mean person or to spread misinformation! Typically when somebody corrects me no matter what I try to say "oh sorry thank you for correcting me" and try to listen... But goodness, especially because I have special interests in particularly male dominated fields and I'm a younger woman and I dress in a very feminine way, I think a lot of people will look down on me and I don't know if they're being normal and simply correcting me or if they're actually being mean 😭 I'm not so great at social cues, either !!
sorry for the rant (〒﹏〒)
