Assalawalaikum,
It’s a long post, sorry for that. But I want to ask for suggestions for my friend who feels cheated after buying a phone.

yesterday my friends went to a popular shopping mall in ctg for buying phones. They were passing by the oppo branch then the salesgirl handed her a leaflet where it’s written they can buy mobile in installment via bkash. Since she doesn’t have a card she thought maybe she can try buying a phone through this method. Then a cunning salesman came and started explaining the features of the mobile for long 15 mins then my frnd said her budget is 25,000. So they showed her a phone and told it’s 25k, then she and her sis asked them can they pay in installment they said yes. There are 4/6/9months installment plan. They agreed with the 6 month installment, the seller said they have to pay 3,133tk every month. They took her id and bank statement and everything and filed for the EMI service. They said someone will call in my friends mobile and they told her to say that u do job as a junior supervisor and she did so. The person in the call asked her job, salary and how long she is working and asked her just can she pay monthly the amount? She said yes. Ok then the emi thing was accepted and they prepared all the documents and my friend signed the documents without checking. The price of the phone was 24,990tk what they said and have written in the invoice. Ok then when they asked how to pay the installment they downloaded an app -toppay which they did after all the process was done.and told her before 4th of every month she needs to pay. Ok now when she goes home and check the app she notices that the mobile price is written there 27,489 and with the installment the total she will pay is 30k something. She was shocked. She was like her budget is 25k then how can they charge her so much. Then she understood that they are charhing her 28% for the emi which the salesman nor the manager informed her. Plus the mobile price is higher. She called the salesman he didn’t rcv but later he called and when my frnd asked him why he didn’t tell about the charges he said it was their fault why didn’t they know about emi. He said everyone knows. Every customer asks them about emi percentage so that isn’t their fault. There is no sign or no mention of percentages of emi in their shop.
My friend was like he explained the featured for long -5 minutes but can’t say about SMI charges? Wow.
My frnds sis said she will complain, his reply was ok no problem you can do that. The audacity!
Next she and her sis went to the shop again to talk with the manager and he was also blaming them. Why they never asked about the charges. And when they asked why in the app the mobile price is 27k when u said it’s around 25k (mentioned in invoice) he said that’s 10% govt tax. After a lot of discussion he said he will pay 1000 from his side since his salesman made a fault but he can’t do much than that. He is saying that’s 80% my friends fault and 20% their fault. My friend told them that she wants to pay in full and cancel the emi system. But they said they can’t cancel it since it’s already approved. She also spoke with the top pay customer service they said the same thing. She even said the fault is of both sides. I know it’s my friends mistake too as she didn’t read the papers beforehand. She is buying a mobile herself for the first time. But what about the govt tax which isn’t even mentioned anywhere. Nit also in the invoice.
Now what should they do? Accept the 1k or take other necessary step? My friend is in panic cause it’s too much for her. She feels cheated.
