Financial provider, now I regret it

26M NNN. I met this sweet Vietnamese girl. After 2 months, I asked her to be my girlfriend. If it matters, she is beautiful 22F. I am average looking. Wherever we walk she gets stares from guys and girls, she is that pretty.

I am very well aware that Asian woman would date down, if it meant the man can provide them a promising future.

Well, I returned to my home country for a month and realized wow, if I had dated in the U.S. I would have never became a financial provider in the first place. I realized I don't like being a financial provider, and I'm thinking of ending it with my girlfriend and staying single in VN.

What led me to this conclusion is, well in the span of 8 months together, I have literally spent close to 200m vnd - 250m vnd (~$7.5k usd - $10k usd) on our relationship. I haven't done the exact calculation, but my estimate is around that range. This is not sustainable.

I paid for everything - rent, food, drinks (boba tea), dates, gifts, her online shopping addiction, her piano & tennis lessons, gave money to her family - you name it.

I really fucked up. She was my first girlfriend and I got completely taken advantage of. In the moment I couldn't see it though.

Not to paint my girlfriend as a bad person. When I'm sick she takes care of me. She cooks me healthy food because I have a hard time staying on my diet. I guess that's the agreement when the man is a financial provider and the woman supports me.

Has anyone ever been in my situation and how did you handle it? I've read stories online of people getting married, being a financial provider and then eventually breaking up etc. but wow, does this one sting.
