Feeling irrationally rejected after bf was not in the mood

NSFW

My boyfriend and I are together for 3 years and out of the two of us I'm the one with the highest libido, but even so my bf very rarely said no to my advances. We had a few matters to settle on at the beginning of the relationship and we both came to the conclusion that he is somewhere in the ace spectrum. He enjoys sex very much but it's not something he needs and he doesn't crave for it. That being said he was always very enthusiastic when we were together and very dedicated as well.

We spent this week apart bc I was studying in another town and we had planned to have sex before me going but we ended up not having time for it. So we agreed that we would do it when I came back. Very well, I spent the whole week looking forward to it and once I returned I got all nice and ready and went to meet him but he was a little down, he was feeling unmotivated due to the extreme heat in our town, which is totally understandable. I noticed he wasn't on the mood and dropped the subject. But I couldn't help feeling a little hurt and disappointed.

I know it doesn't make any sense for me to feel this way, which now it's making me feel guilty on top of everything else. Like I said this happens very rarely and I want him to feel totally comfortable to say no if he is not feeling it. Obviously I wasn't mad at him or anything and I tried really hard not to show that I was hurt but he knows me too well and noticed. He apologized a few times and told me he was going to make it up to me afterwards. But I don't want to him to feel the need to apologize or to try and compensate me somehow. But I also can't shake the feeling of rejection and disappointment.

Maybe it was bc I was very excited and turned on and waiting for it for a whole week idk, I just felt hurt and even a bit dejected later when he perked up and suggested we had sex. And now he is feeling like he should do something to make it up for saying no and I'm feeling terrible and guilty bc of it and Idk how to fix that.
