[Routine Help] Sunscreen while living out of a carry-on - preventing clogged pores without wrecking my budget

Routine Help

My spouse (early 30s) and I live a pretty nomadic life and I'm trying to get back into a daily sunscreen habit after a few months of slacking. The annoying thing is that any sunscreen that feels nice cosmetically gives me tiny closed-comedone bumps on my forehead and around my nose within a week or two. When I switch to a lighter gel formula I feel like I'm not removing it well enough at night and I still end up with bumps.

Constraints: carry-on only, so no giant bottles - I decant or buy travel sizes - and I try not to buy a bunch of products at once because my income varies and I need to keep costs predictable.

Skin: combination, leaning oily in the T-zone, cheeks are normal. Not very sensitive, but gets congested easily.

Current routine:

AM

- Rinse with water (sometimes a gentle cleanser if I worked out)

- Light moisturizer if needed

- Sunscreen (this is the step that keeps changing)

PM

- Gentle cleanser

- Moisturizer

1-2x/week: BHA leave-on (this helps a bit but doesn't prevent the bumps when I've picked the wrong sunscreen)

Questions:

  1. For people who get congestion/acne from products, is the bigger lever usually changing the sunscreen formula, or improving removal (eg. adding an oil cleanse or micellar water) even if I'm only wearing sunscreen?

  2. If double cleansing is the fix, how do you do it in a travel-friendly, low-fuss way that won't over-strip your skin? (Prefer small/cheap options - decants, single-use micellar pads, etc.)

  3. Any ingredient categories you personally avoid in face sunscreens when you're prone to clogged pores?

Not asking for a diagnosis, just trying to be smarter about this so I'm not constantly buying and tossing sunscreens every few weeks. Appreciate any practical, travel-friendly tips.
