I think I have a theory that could explain many events in Deltarune.

In fact, Friend, or the (Tail of Hell), would have kidnapped Dess's soul (as in the Roots theory). Asgore would have been the police officer on duty that night. Since the event he said is particularly implausible, no one would have believed Asgore, and he would have been dismissed from the police force, which would explain why he seems rejected, wants to prove something, but isn't in prison. This event would have caused the break between Asgore and Toriel and destroyed the relationship between the Dremmurs and the Holidays. Dess's soul would have been sent to Heavens (a place brighter than the light world), either within the game's code (as the philosopher mentions when he says: lost where the forest would grow, the children followed the pointed tail).

Carol, devastated, was the only one to believe Asgore's implausible version of events. She would therefore have sought to find her daughter by any means necessary. Wanting to find her daughter whole, she would have decided to take advantage of her relationship with Kris and the Dreemurs (the only human in the village) to retrieve their soul and place it in Dess's body to create the Roaing Knight (as in Polarity's theory). By doing so, Carol would have attracted an even more powerful soul (the player's soul from Undertale). This soul would have been provided by Gaster, curious to see what would happen, since he knows that this soul is particularly adept at making choices and changing fate. He would therefore have had to create a vessel to house the player (his Deltarune). Since the soul doesn't belong to Kris, this would explain why the two don't get along as well as Frisk in Undertale. This soul combined with the Roaing Knight would be the two forces capable of resisting the passage from darkness to light, therefore, find Dess.

However, in order to truly retrieve Dess's soul, they would have to unleash a cataclysm (the Roaing) to overwhelm the light where Dess resides. However, since this event would be extremely dangerous, it would kill all the Darkners, monsters, and the player. This is why the player, Suzie, and Ralsei would try (in vain) to prevent the Roaing. But the only way to truly stop the Roaing would be with the Weird Route. Since the soul doesn't get along well with Kris, it would have to find a perfect vessel (Noelle). This explains the passage in the prophecy: "Love finds its way to the girl." Once Noelle is fully possessed by the soul, she will need an object to channel the soul's power without becoming a kind of amalgamate. This is why she will form the Twisted Sword (the sword depicted in the prophecy).

So, the Soul, Ralsei, and Suzie want to prevent the Roaing to protect both the dark and light worlds, while the Roaing Knight, Carol, and Kris want to create the Roaing to free Dess. But only the Soul is willing to do anything to avoid being used as a tool, which allows her to manipulate Noelle into the Weird Route, even though Suzie and Ralsei disagree. Noelle possessing a sword would be consistent with the storyline, since her entire family (well, except for Rudy) has a connection to swords: Carol has a katana, the Roaing Knight has a baseball bat that transforms into a sword (and also grants a Shadow Crystal), and Noelle would possess the Twisted Sword.
