Requesting clarification on what was going on in Futaba’s Palace
Hi. New here. Got myself Persona 5 Royal at my friends suggestion for Christmas, and I’ve been enjoying the game thus far. The whole “cognitive-world” aspect was. Abit difficult to wrap my head around, but I feel like I’ve got the gist of it.
Except for this part. I just wrapped up level 4 of the game (Futaba’s Palace), and… I just want to make sure I properly understand what the game was trying to imply me before I risk making an ass of myself.
Futaba’s Palace is where we learn that a person needs to have a strongly distorted desire in order to have a Palace, but having a distorted desire doesn’t necessarily make that person evil or harmful to others; it just means that their desire is strong enough to warp their perception of reality, and it just so happens that most people with distorted desires are also assholes.
But in Futaba’s case… to rip the metaphorical band-aid off: her distorted desire was for death, right? She wanted to die? To 86 herself? And her meeting her Shadow and awakening her Persona was a metaphor for her confronting that desire and finding the resolve to continue living?
It felt pretty unsubtle, but idk.
