Elections got people drunk on power, quite literally
It was around 9.45 PM on the 5th of March, I was returning from work in a local train. A drunk moron boarded my compartment and sat next to a decent gentleman a couple rows in front of me. He was so drunk that he couldnt sit upright and was falling over the guy. After a while, he stopped tolerating it and rightly asked him if he holds the appropriate ticket and mentioned that this is a first class compartment. Immediately, that drunk moron started spewing all kinds of bad language but this one line stuck with me.
"This is election time and there is nothing you can do to me. I am the common public."
Im young and stupid so I didnt understand what elections have to do with this stupid behavior at first.
After a few moments of pondering, I figured the ploy.
Even if he gets arrested, he would probably contact the local politician. If he refuses to bail him out of the situation, he would likely threaten to vote for the opposition.
The politician now has no choice since this moron most likely has a family and relatives and that could easily count to more than 5 votes for his competition if he doesn't help.
Now this moron owes this politician a favor and probably helps him cover up somethings for the corrupt politician once the election ends. And that's how almost all politicians have a few rowdies or allaikais under them.
Or maybe I just watch too many movies .... 🥱 Either way, Naadu urupta maari than.
