People who have planned weddings: did the pricing feel inflated?

While researching venues, catering, and photography, I’m noticing that wedding packages seem dramatically more expensive than similar services for other events. My brother got married in 2021 and my mom and I are comparing it to the quotes im getting 5 years later, they keep saying after covid prices increased bc there is a demand etc

Is there a real reason for that (extra work, expectations, liability, etc.), or does the wedding industry rely on emotional spending? or inflation? This is not a dig at anyone btw I am just really curious!
