I was disappointed with the RG34XX SP stock mod
I want to be clear upfront — the device itself is fine. emulation performance, build quality, the form factor, all good. this isn't a hardware complaint. but the stock mod? stock mod, I am disappoint.
Three things that have been sitting broken or missing for what feels like forever, with no real sign anything's changing: Sleep doesn't work for PSP, DS, or any of the standalone emulators. not "works sometimes" — just doesn't work. you close the clamshell and come back later to either a dead battery or a frozen screen. for a clamshell handheld whose whole identity is "pick up and put down", this is kind of a massive miss. retroarch cores get sleep. why don't the standalones? it's been this way for ages. DS games don't fill the screen properly. yes i know the DS has a weird dual-screen aspect ratio, i know it's complicated. but other custom firmwares have figured out reasonable display options. on stock you're just kind of stuck squinting at whatever you get and hoping for the best.
Rumble. still not supported. the SP has the hardware for it. it's sitting there. doing nothing. i've seen people ask about this in threads for well over a year and the answer is always either silence or "maybe eventually." at some point "eventually" stops being reassuring. none of these are obscure edge case requests. they're basic quality of life stuff for a handheld that markets itself on portability and form factor.
Switching to MuOS now. should've done it sooner honestly.
