Why I’m deleting the CRED app for good
I’ve been using CRED to track my credit card payments, but my recent experience has been extremely frustrating.
The app showed the wrong EMI payment date for my credit card. Because of that incorrect date, I ended up missing my EMI by one day — twice. As a result, I had to pay late fee charges, even though I was relying on the date displayed inside the app.
An app that positions itself as a credit card management platform should get the most critical piece of information — the payment due date — absolutely right. If the date shown is wrong, the entire purpose of using the app is defeated.
What made the experience worse was the in-app support.
When I raised the issue, the support system (clearly an AI chatbot) failed to even understand the problem. Instead of addressing the core issue — correcting the EMI payment date shown in the app — it kept giving generic responses about mandate bounces and reminders.
There was no escalation, no attempt to investigate the incorrect due date, and no real help.
This is the second time this has happened, and it has already cost me money in late fees.
If a financial app:
Shows incorrect payment information
Causes avoidable late payment penalties
And has support that cannot even understand the issue
then it’s simply not reliable.
I’m deleting CRED for good.
If you’re using it to track credit card payments, I would strongly suggest verifying the due date directly with your bank instead of relying only on the app.
