Encouraging the cat to play more during the day

My cat spends most of the day napping on the couch and only wants to play for a few minutes in the evening.

I’ve tried using wand toys, laser pointers, and small balls but he quickly loses interest.

I'm looking for ways to keep him active throughout the day without forcing him... anyone have strategies that worked?
