Log Insights - Browser extension teaser

Quality Shitpost

I've been working on a browser extension (Chrome/Edge/Firefox) that brings the Log Insight App enrichments directly into the UniFi Controller UI, so no tab-switching and no separate dashboards for thos who prefer to stay in UniFi OS.

What it does:

  • Adds a "Log Insight" tab into the UniFi portal navigation. Click it and the full Log Insight app loads right inside the controller, replacing the content area.
  • Enriches the Flow View: Every public Source IP on the Insights > Flow table gets an inline badge showing its "real" threat score, reverse DNS hostname, and ASN. Click any badge to instantly drill into that IP's logs without leaving UniFi.
  • Privacy-first: Ships with zero host permissions. Permissions are requested dynamically for only your two endpoints (Log Insight + UniFi Controller). All enrichment data comes from your local Log Insight cache. Absolutely nothing leaves your network.

Still polishing a few things, but the extension will ship alongside the next release or two of Log Insight, and after the Google/Mozilla review process.

Would love to hear if this is something you'd find useful, or if there are other enrichments you'd want to see on the Flow View.

^(Important:)
^(As with anything of this kind, UniFi may change how the page displays, which may break things, but I will be testing it on each new UniFi Network Application releases.)
^(Some users maybe concerned with that the extension "injects" in UniFi....It only addss HTML and CSS (styling). The app and extension are) ^(open source)^(, but not everyone can read code. The extension follows the submission review process of Google and Firefox (Mozilla has more stringent extensions criteria than Google).)
