¿Vale la pena?

I found my birthday present from 26 years ago. I never received it, and it was just sitting in a dusty closet. But it's a sealed red Pokemon game. I don't know much about the subject, but from what I've seen, Pokemon games are worth money on the resale market. My question is, is it better closed or open? And how much might it cost approximately?
