1.0 Final objective? (ENDGAME SPOILERS)

So for anyone whose save was parked before the choice to activate the Simulator with either full Virus or full Blight on the stability meter, you'll see that the dialogue for doing so is now different but either path leads to the same next step, unlocking the final research containing a Simulator component and Multi-Keys. From there, there are no more mission objectives, so figuring out how to use the simulator component is up to you. I found something, but I don't know if that's all there is to it.

!If you chose the Virus path for activating the alien Simulator with the console, you get a slightly better hint. HIGGS tells you "it has something to do with the AI cores". Placing either of the AI cores the mothership drops (or a converted HIGGS core) into a unit having the Simulator component makes the component request 5 Multi-Keys. Delivering those and activating the component "ejects" the AI core, causing it to disappear. I got an achievement for "escaping the simulation" for doing this to the neutral AI core, and doing it to both HIGGS and ELAIN cores didn't seem to do anything.!<

Is there any in-game result for doing this? EG from the patch notes, it says completing the game unlocks an alternate starting point, is there any confirmation I have that? Is there anything else that can be done using the Simulator component? (please don't spoil the solution if so, just yes or no is fine)
