I'm so confused on what exactly is Paladin Tanking gear

Its time like these I feel like I should have boosted a Warrior, things seem so much easier as a Warrior.

Anyway, what exactly is Paladin tanking gear? I searched it and its just a mess, they say I should be needing on caster trinkets and accessories while mixing in gear with no intellect but has Defense on it.

It's already awkward enough being the only person that has to drink after 2-3 pulls. What is the logic behind Paladin Tanking gear?
