‘Oh my God, Peeta’ (religion in Panem)

Spoiler:pin-black:Trilogy Discussion

This is so stupid so sorry in advance, I just finished rereading the original trilogy, and looked at some clips, and noticed when Katniss finds Peeta, she says ‘Oh my God, Peeta’. The book showed it differently, but whatever.

But, doesn’t the ‘Oh my God’ indicate at least a knowledge of religion in Panem? Is there religion in Panem? I know they have rituals, but those aren’t necessarily religious. Plutarch explained Panem et circenses by mentioning Rome, but I somehow doubt the catholic church survived.

So yea, stupid post but maybe someone else has a theory, esp. as I haven’t read the other two books yet :) Starting Songbird now!
