Help toning orange hair light brown/red?

This seems easy! So my hair was dyed dark 5N brown forever. I used color remove and lifted everything to like an 8 light/medium ginger with my natural medium mousy roots. So I’m going for a light brown/w some red tones. I put 7WG dye on for 10 mins and my hair is BLACK. I see now that it’s so dark because my hair is very fine and porous. It was dyed before and my natural color is medium brown

I’m going to use color remover again and strip the dye. From what I see, toner is probably a better option to gently blend the roots to hair color. I liked my hair before but the roots were too brow and obvious. Once I remove the dye again, what toner should I use??
