Background check negative

Seeking Advice

I recently met a girl through an arranged marriage setup and we both seemed to like each other. Our conversations were good and I genuinely felt there was a connection.

The situation is that I used to work abroad, but currently I don't have a job because I returned home and I’m planning to go abroad again once the current war situation settles down. So right now I'm in a temporary gap.

During the background check, someone apparently told her family very negative things about me — that I am lazy, that I don't go to work, and that I'm not smart. I don't know exactly who said it, but it seems to have influenced their opinion.

Honestly, it made me feel really sad because I truly liked the girl and I feel the information they got about me is unfair or exaggerated. I'm wondering what the best approach is now. Should I try to directly clarify things with the girl or her family?

Or is it better to just move on and not push it? Has anyone experienced something similar in arranged marriage situations where rumors or background checks affected things? How did you handle it?

Any advice would really help.
