Upgrade from a Canyon Endurace AllRoad: Pinarello X5 or Pinarello X7 or Canyon SLX 8?

Hi everyone,

I started road cycling just two weeks ago and I’m already hooked. Currently, I’m riding a Canyon Allroad Endurace that weighs about 10.72 kg (23.63 lbs). I’ve quickly realized that I want to go faster and lighter.

I am 49 years old, 183 cm (6'0") tall, around 90 kg (198 lbs) and I'm German. I'm a huge aesthete and I quit motorcycling for good last year. I love beautiful things and high-end tech; for me, the look of the bike is just as important as the specs.

After a weekend of reading and watching videos, I have narrowed it down to three options:

  1. Canyon Endurace CF SLX 8 Di2: Rationally, this is the winner. 7.8 kg (17.2 lbs), Ultegra Di2, integrated power meter. It’s a local company (Germany) and costs 4,400 Euros.

  2. Pinarello X5: I absolutely adore the Pinarello lines. The design is a 10/10 for me. But it comes with 105 Di2 and weighs around 8.6 kg (18.96 lbs). It costs 6,000 Euros.

  3. Pinarello X7: Beautiful blue color. Same stunning lines as the X5, but with Ultegra Di2 and better carbon (approx. 8.1 kg / 17.86 lbs). It costs 8,500 Euros.

I also looked at the Specialized Roubaix SL8 but not enough to take it into consideration yet.

My questions for the community:

- As a beginner, will I feel the jump from 8.6 kg to 8.1 kg (X5 vs X7) significantly enough to justify the premium?

- Is the Ultegra Di2 (X7) worth the extra cost over the 105 Di2 (X5) for someone who loves tech features and just started out?

- Or should an aesthete like me just suck it up and go for the Canyon because the specs-per-euro are unbeatable?

Money is a factor, but not the main one; I want the bike that makes me smile and motivates me to ride.

Looking forward to your thoughts and suggestions if there are other contenders out there! Thank you.
